Not All Home Pregnancy Tests Are Created Equal

February 23rd, 2008 by admin

If you’re at the point where you’re ready to use a home pregnancy test, remember that not all tests are created equal. Many home pregnancy tests are not sensitive enough to detect most pregnancies until about a week after a missed period, so if you take one earlier and get a negative result, try again in a few days. If you get a positive result make an appointment with your health care provider or obstetrician. He or she will confirm the signs of pregnancy you’ve been experiencing with another pregnancy test in the office, and prescribe prenatal vitamins in addition to setting up a schedule for future prenatal visits.

The Impact Of a Birth Chart

February 20th, 2008 by admin

The first area where the birth chart had an impact on our lives was naturally on our diets. Suddenly, some of my best loved foods were banished from not just the kitchen, but the household as well. When I tried to question her, she gave me that ‘ I know what is best for me and our baby’ look and effectively silenced me. The second area that was soon invaded and conquered was the waking and sleeping moments. Rather than wait for the baby to be born in order to adjust our sleep cycles, my wife mapped out the predictions and comments in the birth chart to regulate our sleeping moments. Which is why I would suddenly find myself rudely being shaken out of my beauty sleep in order to feel the baby move at all odd times of the day and night.

Home Pregnancy Test

February 18th, 2008 by admin

A home pregnancy test uses urine to detect if pregnancy hormones are present, but usually, this can only be done a week or more after a missed period. If taken too soon, the pregnancy hormone will not yet be at a high enough level to be detected. Some pregnancy tests do state, however, that you use first morning urine, because it is more concentrated and will have the largest amount of pregnancy hormones present

Home pregnancy tests are on average a dependable inexpensive way to confirm a pregnancy. They are very reasonably priced, and are very similar to the urine pregnancy tests used by physician’s offices.

Chinese Sex Selection

November 6th, 2007 by admin

Some would call it technology backing traditional values. Others would call it the ultimate form of sexual discrimination. And others would call it a gross violation of the rights of the unborn child.

What are we talking about? sex selection and its occurrence in Chinese families.

Chinese families within mainland China these days are not the typical “Dad, Mum and 2.5 kids” families. This is because Chinese society has the “one child” policy, which restricts women to giving birth to only one child, with penalties imposed if they breach this. These penalties range from loss of privileges to (according to one source) physical abuse.
